David Howard

Experienced Family Law and Wills & Estates Lawyer

David obtained his law degree at the University of Ottawa in 2014.  He was called to the bar after completing the law practice program in 2015.  David ran his own law practice for two years, focusing primarily on family law and wills and estate planning. David joined Coristine Law Office in 2018.

David is a proponent of access to justice and proud member of Justicenet, providing discounted rates for individuals whose household incomes are below $59,000.

David serves individuals in the greater Ottawa area: Ottawa, Cornwall, Brockville, L’Orignal, Pembroke, Renfrew, and Perth.

David also enjoys giving back to the community as a member of Barristers for a Better Bytown, providing support towards projects and initiatives that help at-risk children and youth, the homeless, vulnerable persons, and others in need.

Family Law

David provides individuals with advice relating to their legal rights and obligations following the breakdown of their relationship, striving to understand the individual’s needs and concerns to ensure the optimal resolution to their separation. From the initial interview to the resolution of a case, David closely listens to his clients and discusses strategies on how to best obtain their objectives.

David takes every opportunity to resolve matters cost-effectively and efficiently through negotiation in a client-focused approach.  Sometimes, however, highly contentious matters do not settle out of court.  David has considerable courtroom experience and is well-versed in issues relating to custody and access, support, and property claims, including trust claims, challenging and upholding domestic contracts, enforcement of support orders, and Family Responsibility Office proceedings.

Wills & Estates

David also prepares wills and powers of attorney for property and powers of attorney for personal care.  David provides advice on planning for disabled beneficiaries, protecting estates from creditors, minimizing tax liabilities, and achieving various other goals that testators seek.
